When National Health Meets AI: Brunei's "BN on the Move" National Fitness Challenge Kicks Off Vibrantly
2025-09-30
On September 28, the "BN on the Move" national fitness challenge, hosted by the Ministry of Health of Brunei, kicked off vibrantly in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan! This health carnival, which will run until February 2026, is fully supported by the BruHealth digital health platform, developed by EVYD Technology, a subsidiary of Yidu Tech. The event swiftly ignited public enthusiasm, attracting over 7,000 residents of all ages to join actively on the very first day alone, all stepping together towards better health.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Health, Dato Dr Hj Mohd Isham bin Hj Jaafar. It was attended by representatives from both government and enterprise, including Pehin Datu Lailarima Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; Dato Seri Paduka Dr. Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs; and Dato Seri Paduka Ir. Haji Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development; as well as Ms. Gong Rujing, Founder and Chairperson of Yidu Tech, and Xu Jiming, Co-Founder and CEO of Yidu Tech. The distinguished guests joined the morning walk, personally advocating for "health for all" through their actions.
Dr. Muhd Rieo Syafi'i bin Salor, a Medical Officer from the Health Promotion Centre, stated to local media: "This campaign is part of the Ministry of Health's initiative to encourage the public to walk more and increase their daily step count. We hope this campaign will encourage regular physical activity to prevent non-communicable diseases."

The atmosphere on-site was lively, with diverse activity zones such as the 2.5km walk, aerobics, and high-intensity interval training classes drawing large crowds. Participants also enjoyed free health services like cardiovascular screenings. This initiative is deeply integrated with other national programs like the National Health Screening Plan (NHSP), collectively contributing to the preventive healthcare strategy outlined in Brunei Vision 2035.
Notably, the "AI brain" and "considerate companion" accompanying the entire challenge is the BruHealth platform. Through BruHealth, participants can easily complete online registration, record data in real-time, perform health check-ins, track their progress, and even form teams with friends, making the journey to persistence less lonely. Currently, BruHealth covers approximately 400,000 users in Brunei, with 63% of residents logging in at least once per week, demonstrating its true integration into daily life.
BruHealth has a proven track record in promoting national fitness and health, supported by impressive data: In the 2023 "BN on the Move" campaign, it served over 92,000 users; during the 2024 campaign period, it recorded over 10 billion cumulative steps. Furthermore, in 2022, during the "Walk Together 1 Billion Steps" challenge, it set a record by attracting 12,000 registrations in just three days, showcasing its immense popularity.

Ms. Gong Rujing expressed deep pride, stating: "Collaborating with the Ministry of Health of Brunei to advance this national fitness challenge is not only an overseas practice of our technology for us but also a vivid demonstration of our philosophy to 'use technology to warm life'. We believe that technology is not just about cold data and algorithms; it should be a warm force that safeguards health and conveys care. In the future, we will continue to use innovative platforms like BruHealth to enable AI-driven health and care to transcend borders. We aim to join hands with global partners to collectively stride towards a smarter, warmer, and healthier future!"
